Cities best reveal themselves on foot, and Montréal is one of the most pedestrian-friendly cities in North America. There's much to see in the concentrated districts -- the Old Town, the center city, around rue Crescent, the Latin Quarter, and on "The Mountain" -- and the city's layout is fairly straightforward and easily navigated, especially with the aid of the extensive Métro system.
